Artist-in-Residence
Each year, the Art Hx team invites a contemporary artist to complete a residency. The Artist-in-Residence works with a student artist as mentor, creates work inspired by the Art Hx Research Team’s work and the project’s themes, delivers an artist talk to students in the Visual Arts program, and installs an exhibition. Additionally, they will organize, with the Art Hx team’s support, one public program to share their work with a broader audience.
The residency allows for us to connect contemporary art with the broader historical issues explored by the project, illuminate contemporary resonances, as well as underscore how art and artmaking function as pedagogical tools that can educate our audiences about these enmeshed histories.
